The first statement in Clause 2, The Aims and Objectives give an excellent insight to the primary activities of the Network:
[Clause 2.1.a] To provide information, advice, and relevant services to member U3As, and to encourage their involvement in the wider community, while recognising their autonomy.
The Committee meets six to eight times per year and in the last two years, with COVID-19, Zoom online meetings have been utilised when appropriate. The Network also arranges an Annual General Meeting to enhance the connections between U3As in NSW and the ACT.
For reference the Role Descriptions for the Committee of Management may be downloaded.
Visit the Constitution page on this site to access the current Constitution (14 August 2020).
Like all of U3A, volunteers are needed to fill positions as they fall vacant. If you are interested in the structure and “the big picture” of U3A in NSW and you wish to contribute please make an enquiry by sending an Email to info@u3anet.org.au.
While the Network doesn’t offer a course-program it has administrative needs that are similar to all committees in U3A. The leadership positions together with the regional representatives are mentioned above, plus U3A Network NSW Inc. needs technology support, website maintainers and others with special skills who may contribute to short-term projects.
The services the Network provides. The Network provides ‘group’ services to its Members U3As in the areas of Performance Rights (OneMusic), Copyright, Screenrights and a group policy for Public Liability insurance. Members U3As choose these services via a process we call our “Annual Census“. The services aspect of our Census translates into an average expenditure of around $1 per individual member per year. The Members of the Network Committee must liaise annually with the various service providers to plan and offer the services for the forthcoming year. The Network also offers a website hosting option for its Member U3As.
