1.3 About Amending, Reviewing and Updating a Constitution The constitution of an association is a contract between the association and its members. The constitution must not only reflect the nature of the association but must also ensure that the rights of its members are protected. ANY CHANGES TO A CONSTITUTION REQUIRES A SPECIAL RESOLUTION AND MUST, IF PASSED BY THE MEMBERS, BE ACCEPTED BY THE NSW OFFICE OF FAIR TRADING.

5. Guide to Use of U3A Logo issued by The Third Age Trust

The Third Age Trust (U.K) has now issued guides on HOW THE U3A LOGO MUST BE USED by U3As throughout Australia.

7. Incorporated Associations

7.1 General Information and Links

The conduct of an incorporated association is governed by the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 No 7 – NSW and its Regulations. The government instrumentality that has responsibility for policing compliance is NSW Fair Trading.

Committee members have a duty to ensure that their U3A is conducted in accordance with the law . You must therefore familiarize yourself with the relevant law. The NSW Fair Trading website is an excellent starting point:
